‘Steamboat’ is one of the famous and wanted by not only locals but also tourists. The north Malaysian Mr. Heng Yock Seng (Father) with his wife Ms. Lee Chew Ei from Pulau Ketam, Kedah are the founders and initial owners of the well known “Home Town Steamboat Restaurant” in Kuala Lumpur. Later on passed generated the ‘business’ to both their sons, Jack Heng Chun Jet (elder son) and Vincent Heng Chun Voon (younger son) who are the recent owners of the restaurant group.

Vincent’s father Mr. Heng who touched the industry since childhood helping in his grandfather kopitiam in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur since year 1980s. Afterwards in the career of supplying food materials and ingredients until year early 1990′s when Mr. Heng with his wife established their very first own food stall selling ‘economy mixed rice’ in the morning market at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur for about 10 years. Later on established their 1st restaurant named ‘Seven Sea Restoran’ beside main road at Jalan Genting Kelang continue their f&b career. From there Vincent and his elder brother started to help up in the restaurant til the year 1992, they presenting their steamboat menus during night session for anothe 2 years then quit due to economy crisis.

Subsequent in the year 1999, Mr. Heng established together with a freind of him the ‘Best Friend Food Court’ in Setapak. There Vincent’s mother operating a food stall in the court concentrating promoting their steamboat menus with traditional home recipe clear soup and tom yam soup base. Unfortunately in the year 2002, they moved to ‘Panda Food Court’ continue their steamboat recipe for another 4 years. During the period, Jack and his father operating the main stall in the food court, Vincent company his mother running another stall operating at Kepong, then Jalan Imbi lastly in Bangsar before they founded their concept “Home Town Steamboat Restaurant” at Setapak in the year 2006 which is the recent main branch. To expose their recipe, another 4 outlet established in the year 2012 at Kota Damansara, Manjalara, Puchong and Pandan Indah.

In Home Town Steamboat Restaurant, their 6 main exotic soup base are the reason towards their success today and those top recommended will be firstly their traditional clear soup which boiled more than 5 hours inside with chicken bones and ‘jo hao yu’, secondly will be their tom yam which slightly sweet suitable for children and oldiest citizens. Moreover, their chicken porridge and pumpkin porridge base steamboat are the most wanted by the visitors. Another, their fish head noodle soup boiled using fresh ‘sek kap fish head’ boiled upon order to present the top freshness. Cannot missed out, the oustanding will be their Western Steamboat dessert ‘Chocolate Steamboat’ served with fruits, ice cream and snacks round beside presenting the best eatery ever have in a steamboat restaurant, somemore the ‘Cheeesy Steamboat’ also the top recommendation in the restaurant which is the Malaysia Best.

In the side order menus, they have more than 100s choice to pick on. Among them the top wanted will be the fresh raw thinner pork slice and the bamboo tube fresh raw fish paste which only available seasonally. In cooked section, their deep fried dumpling and their homemad recipe BBQ chicken wings served with their recipe chilli sauce are the most recommended on every table occupied. Nonetheless, the ‘Minced Pork Meat’ topped with raw egg is the exotic oustanding creation in the menu.
